Ever wondered, “How did they do that?” This course explores specialty rug hooking techniques, from the beading stitch to proddy and more.

The traditional rug hooking stitch is simple, versatile, and all you’ll ever need to create beautiful rugs. But if you’d like to add a little extra texture, dimension, and personality to your work, these specialty stitches are a fun way to add that extra pizzazz.

Going Beyond the Loop

You can hook creative stitches as a sampler, but I much prefer to see creative stitches worked into your rugs to create special effects.

The first video in each lesson will be a full in-depth instruction video about that particular stitch. Next is a section called The Steps. It is a summary to refresh your memory. This is useful if you consult your sampler, find the effect you want but cannot remember the steps. Just head to this area and watch the refresher. Next you will see a collection of examples submitted by students. Do you have a rug to share? Just send me an email: rughooking@me.com
