I bought the Universal license because I use Affinity Photo 2 on my mac, and I am discovering how well all the apps work together on the ipad. There is no substitute for drawing your own patterns. You not only get to hook what you want, but you really understand the pattern when you are done. When you hire someone else to create your pattern, you miss out on all this preliminary work.

Traditional short cuts using a photo app do not create useable patterns. Seeing the image like this may give you some insight, but you need something else.
The contour line drawing seems like the right option, but all it does is confuse things. It creates too many lines in the grass and not enough on the dog.
Manually tracing the pattern is the only way to get a good rug hooking pattern AND understand the image.
