Here are my two “tall” pencil pouch purses.
The sunflower is my own design. I’d never tried proddy before. I’ve wanted to for a long time, so it was a fun experiment, and I’m happy with how it turned out.
The butterfly is your design. I didn’t have the wool you had for the edges so I used Arctic Rays “wispy fringe” thread and did French knots. I also tried a wrapped knot type stitch for the yellow flowers. All things I’d never done to a hooked piece before. It was fun to experiment with new techniques and not have to commit to a huge piece to do it. Thanks for the class. I had a lot of fun hooking these.

I finished my pencil pouch and am sending a picture in case you want to put this in your beginner students projects so other newbies can see what others have done? I made a few mistakes as you can see and also would have changed a few things in my color choices, but I had fun learning through this course and would highly recommend it.

The pencil pouches I designed and made for my daughter’s and grand daughters last Christmas, each had special things they liked. It was fun to design different motifs to their liking. I hooked them in 4 and 5 cuts.

Here are photos of my finished tool kit. This was a fun project and your directions were spot on. Looking forward to making another one for a Raffle at a Hook-
In. I have learned so much from your Rug Hooking Journey and really enjoy the Weekly Zooms and various Hook-In’s. Thank you for sharing all your knowledge.
Keep On Hooking!

Tip for getting the clips through the wool: Use a knitting needle. If you have bulky clips you can start with a small knitting needle and once you have the hole started, progress to larger needles until the hole is large enough accept the clips.

I visited your shop with a group of ladies on the way to ATHA in Cleveland in 2017. Sorry to say it took me that long to get going on my Pencil Pouch Purse. But now that it’s done I’m going to be quick to get going on another. Here’s my design, embellished with dyed nylons for flowers, and a kitty button in the weeds. I took a handle from a thrift store purse and put the rings through the pencil pouch rings, making it extra sturdy. Thanks for the great idea. Kindest regards, Pat Boesel (Wisconsin)
